Robbie Noonan Personal Training Logo & Brand

Robbie Noonan is my own personal trainer and a wonderful friend, so when he needed a brand of his own I jumped at it. I designed the RNPT logo and a full brand guidelines document, built around an energetic colour palette we refined together over several rounds until it felt right.

The project

The project

Robbie Noonan is my own personal trainer and a wonderful friend, which made this project a special one. He is a talented, genuinely incredible trainer with an insane amount of knowledge on biomechanics and mobility work, along with strength and conditioning, and he needed a brand that did that knowledge justice.

The brief was a brand that felt professional but not exclusive of any person. Not too strong-man, not too dancy. Something that could work with anyone who wanted to train with him.

We worked insanely closely on it, with several bouts and rounds of revisions and changes. The colours took the most work by far. We continually revisited them until we finally landed on the energetic teal and orange palette that now defines the brand.

I delivered the RNPT logo and a full brand guidelines document covering colour, typography, iconography, photography and web design - a clear identity and the tools to keep it consistent.

The opportunity

The opportunity

Robbie is a talented, genuinely incredible trainer with an insane amount of knowledge on biomechanics and mobility work, along with strength and conditioning. What he didn’t have was a brand to match. He came to me needing an identity that felt professional without being exclusive of anyone: not too strong-man, not too dancy, nothing that would put off a particular kind of client before they’d even spoken to him. Something that could work with anyone.

The thinking

The thinking

We worked insanely closely on this one. Robbie is my own personal trainer and a wonderful friend, so the process was more conversation than briefing, with several bouts and rounds of revisions and changes along the way. The logo and typography settled fairly quickly: a bold, two-tone R mark with the RNPT wordmark beneath it, clean and confident without shouting.

The colours were a different story. We continually revisited them, trying warmer and cooler combinations, softer and louder versions, until we finally landed on our energetic palette: a vivid teal and orange against charcoal. It has real energy to it, but it stays welcoming rather than aggressive, which is exactly what Robbie needed.

What I created

What I created

A bespoke RNPT logo and a full brand guidelines document covering logo usage, the colour palette, typography, iconography and photography direction, plus initial web design to show how it all comes together online. The sweeping teal and orange accents give Robbie a flexible graphic language he can carry across business cards, kit, social posts and everything else without the brand ever feeling stiff.

The outcome

The outcome

Robbie now has a clear, professional identity and the tools to keep it consistent, from the business cards in his pocket to the logo on his training t-shirt. More than that, it is a brand that feels like him: knowledgeable, energetic and open to anyone who walks through the door. Getting to build it for a friend who has done so much for my own training made this one a real pleasure.

Client Review

What the client said

“I would recommend Sam, and his skills, to anyone who wanted to find and brand and website design that represents them, their ethos and their passion in its entirety. Sam puts people at the centre of his work and this really showed in the branding and website design he did for me. Nothing was too much of a problem, he took time to understand me and my style, my personality and my clientele, and as a self employed person his belief in my mission made it all the better. It’s the perfect mix of personal approach with professional results and I couldn’t be happier with what we’ve built!”
